  • Job Summary

    The Outreach Program Specialist will design, and implement program activities by the GSUSA National Program Portfolio aimed to service girls in under-served communities. The specialist will also ensure the design, delivery, and assessment of integrated girl recruitment and retention strategies. Also, the specialist will support temporary staff responsible for directly administering the program to girls in schools, community centers, low-income housing communities, and other assigned program sites.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience program delivery to under-served populations.
    • Planning, developing and implementing alternative programs which provide quality experience for girls, enhancing the position of Girl Scouting in the community and contributing to recruitment and retention of girls. This includes:
    • Needs assessment to determine programs to offer
    • Support in the development of effective recruitment materials
    • Develop Outreach Summer Program curricula
    • Develop and implement funded programs if necessary:
    • Financial Literary Program
    • Self Esteem Program
    • STEM programs
    • Healthy Living programs
    • Assist in the development of girl retention programs/events as necessary:
    • End of Year Ceremonies/Celebrations
    • World Thinking Day Event
    • Re-dedication/Bridging Ceremonies
    • Girl Scout Cookie Program
    • Other girl retention strategies
    • Develop age-appropriate curriculum and enrichment activities specific to the diverse populations served.
    • Gathers and provides curriculum materials, supplies and needed resources to program facilitators and volunteers involved in direct service to girls.
    • Train, support, supervise and evaluate Program facilitators to guarantee quality delivery of program materials and activities.
    • Ensure Program Facilitators receive appropriate trainings and enrichments.
    • Provides program support when program facilitators are unable to attend a program.
    • Work with Outreach Manager to design and execute a girl retention plan.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Skills & Experience


    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required.
    • Experience in the development and implementation of youth programs.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage people and projects as shown by previous work with volunteers and youth.
    • Ability to collaborate with others and to network with staff and volunteers from other organizations with common interests.
    • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
    • Complete & clear a MVR, Criminal, and Sex Offender background check.



    • Basic experience with the Microsoft suite.
    • Project coordination and effective in managing multiple projects.
    • Experience in managing diverse groups of people such as volunteers and staff.
    • Able to speak effectively before individuals and groups.
    • Able to network and cultivate community partnerships.
    • Knowledge of Girl Scout organization.


    Working Conditions

    • Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
    • Periodically requires long or unusual hours.
    • Ability to travel within a defined geographic territory 60% of the time.
    • Ability to attend staff, team and department meetings.


    Physical Requirements

    • Requires the physical ability to sit, stand or walk for periods of time.
    • Requires the physical ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Reliable transportation.
