  • Job Summary

    The Camp Ranger at Camp Timber Ridge will provide oversight and support for designated council campsite and equipment, and will keep the Camp Director informed of progress and unusual problems at property.   He/She will directly supervise the Maintenance Specialist, and provide exceptional customer service to troops and other guests on the property.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee all maintenance over camp property.

    • Provide supervision and direction of the Maintenance Specialist.
    • Maintain camp properties and facilities in good repair for use by council membership, and ensure maximum security of facilities at all times.
    • Execute preventative and restorative maintenance:  repair buildings and equipment within ranger’s capabilities, in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting.  Specific repairs to buildings, i.e., flooring, screening, plumbing, gutters, windows, electric, etc., painting such as camp buildings, and other.
    • Maintain grounds such as cutting weeds and grass, trimming trees, and clearing brush.
    • Perform lake maintenance and forest management to ensure longevity of council resources for use by membership and other guests
    • Responsible for janitorial needs in camp facilities beyond what is outsourced
    • Maintain certifications as required: such as Certified Pool Operator, Certified Well Operator, etc.
    • Comply with current insurance, local, county, state and federal government codes, laws, and regulations.
    • Work with camp team to ensure the property is ready for program delivery
    • Work with Camp Program Coordinator to ensure that buildings are unlocked and ready for guests to use
    • Provide emergency assistance at other locations as needed.
    • Maintain good peer relations with other staff.
    • Other duties as assigned or determined by supervisor.

    Skills & Experience

    • High School degree or equivalent required
    • Knowledge and demonstrated skill in trades needed for general maintenance and servicing of buildings and grounds
    • Experience in directing the work of others and in working with volunteers
    • Strong human relations skills
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
    • Strong belief and commitment to the values and mission Girl Scouting
    • Must be able to complete & clear a MVR, Criminal, and National Sex Offender background check.




    • Requires the physical ability to walk long distances on rough terrain for long periods of time and able to carry, lift and/or transfer up to 50 pounds.
