Job Summary

The Accounting Specialist will be split between Accounting and Business Operations. Performs a variety of routine and some non-routine accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures in the following areas: receipts processing, donor gift processing, internal incentive tracking, and database reconciliation. Provides assistance in developing financial and business reports for the Mission Delivery team working in tandem with Finance. The business systems used in Mission Delivery report creation include, but are not limited to InfoScout, Sales Force, OpsSuite, and eBudde.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works cross-departmentally to determine proper coding for receipts
  • Prepares daily bank deposits and reports
  • Takes deposits to the bank
  • Provide other departments with required receipt documentation to confirm payment
  • Processes donations in accounting software.
  • Works with Fund Development department to ensure data completeness and processing to best support fund raising activities
  • Reconciles selected general ledger accounts including, but not limited to, cash clearing and product sales incentive liability
  • Provides Council reports designed to help manage the business by gaining systems expertise in eBudde, Abila, OpSuite and InfoScout
  • Maintains meaningful special report data for use in Fund Development and top Council initiatives
  • Determines opportunities for funding through data analysis and research
  • Determines process improvements for streamlined and seamless Mission Delivery reporting
  • Be a high-functioning team player
  • Adheres to GSGATL Finance Policies and provides guidance to other departments about the policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Basic Financial Analysis: The ability to analyze financial data. This includes creating spreadsheets, explaining variances, identifying issues, and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Reconciliation: Ability to compare data from various data sources, identify inconsistencies or variances, and take steps to make necessary corrections.
  • Demonstrate understanding and utilization of computer systems and applications as tools for analysis with knowledge of features/functionality in various systems
  • Proven organizational skills when working independently or in a team environment
  • Demonstrate strong project management and process-oriented skills
  • Knowledge process mapping and flow charting 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to understand data rules and apply the rules consistently to dynamic data and inputs
  • Must have accurate typing and data entry skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must complete & clear a MVR, Credit, Criminal, and Sex Offender background check
