Job Summary

The Girl Scout Community Executive is responsible for cultivating, maintaining and growing a love of Girl Scouting in Murray and Whitfield Counties, with a special emphasis on the Dalton, GA community. Areas of responsibility are comprehensive and include the recruitment and retention of girl and adult members; creation of partnerships with local schools, places of worship, rec centers and other community sites; coordination of customer service, training and recognitions for volunteers; and cultivation and development of individual and corporate donors, foundation grant funders and other supporters.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Know and be able to articulate the mission, leadership experience, key message points and brand for Girl Scouting.
  • Establish a written plan designed to achieve annual recruitment and retention goals for girls and adults in the assigned area and utilize knowledge of community demographics in planning an effective girl and volunteer recruitment/retention strategy. This position is primarily accountable for meeting (or exceeding) an annual membership goals the assigned area.
  • Coordinate recruiting, retention, fund development, program and community awareness activities in assigned geography.
  • Ensure grant-funded programs in the assigned area are administered in compliance with funding requirements and that program outcomes and other required data is collected for reporting to funders.
  • Secure adequate financial support for programs in assigned area. Achieve contributed income, product program income, and participation objectives for assigned area.
  • Work with volunteers to develop an annual plan designed to increase girl and adult membership, improve program delivery and positively impact girl and adult retention.
  • Provide excellent customer service to members and prospective members.
  • Ensure the volunteer service unit teams have appropriate volunteer and other resources to meet membership recruitment, retention, annual fund, product program participation and other service unit goals.
  • Support existing partnerships and identify and steward additional partnerships with schools, places of worship, rec centers, and other community sites to expand opportunities for Girl Scouting to thrive.
  • Partner with the fund development staff to ensure the achievement of fundraising goals in the assigned territory.
  • Represent the council in civic and community activities and organizations as needed.
  • Must be able to work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends.

Skills & Experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of demographic data, geography, and schools and community organizations in Murray and Whitfield Counties.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  3. Event and meeting planning experience
  4. Problem solving abilities
  5. Proven organizational skills required
  6. Microsoft Office proficiency (including PowerPoint, Access, Excel)
  7. Comfortable and adept with public speaking to different size groups
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills
  9. Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff as well as volunteers
  10. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  11. Ability to work well with a team and independently
  12. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize each
  13. Ability to meet designated deadlines

PREFERRED SKILLS

  1. Self-starter able to identify strategies and opportunities to grow Girl Scouting in
  2. Strong marketing, fund-raising and program development background
  3. Non-profit, fund-raising, or sales experience
  4. Self-motivated with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills
  5. Knowledge of Girl Scout organization

Minimum Qualifications

  1. At least two years’ experience with general office responsibilities and procedures
  2. Must reside in the assigned territory or in close proximity
  3. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  4. Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends 
  5. Must successfully complete a criminal, motor vehicle and credit background check.
